NAPLAN

The students learning in the Casa Mia setting is recorded through observation, detailed records of progress through the constructivist curriculum and project work. Progress is also measured against achievement benchmarks – or standards-based criteria such as NAPLAN.

The Casa Mia NAPLAN results are consistently above those of similar schools, that being said it is important to note that due to our small cohort the results are easily affected by a single student. When looking at our academic standards we take a range of factors into account such as observation, work samples, moderation tasks between cycles, surveys, other testing such as On Entry and PAT data.

In 2023, the school began implementing the Sound-Write phonics approach to align with the latest evidence-based practices in teaching children to read and spell. The school has invested in staff training and is committed to supporting students with the most effective strategies to support their academic growth.
