I had not heard of Montessori in 2007 when I first started working at Riverlands Montessori School. I was blown away by the worldly knowledge of the Upper Primary children and that the Childrens House children were using the correct terminology and rather large words when talking about the layers of a forest or parts of a plant etc. The Montessori equipment intrigued me. I began reading, almost obsessively, about the Montessori way and began doing the workshops to learn more.

My passion led me to working with children with learning differences of which I attended many multi-day courses to improve my knowledge and skills to assist these children to reach their full potential to have the best possible opportunities in life.

I believe each child is an individual. They should be nurtured and taught as such. Children should have the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace to assist them to become confident, capable adults with good work and personal ethics.

I started at Casa Mia in 2022 and am currently the Education Assistant in the Upper Primary Class (Maali). I am fortunate to have chosen a career path that I am passionate about and enjoy coming to everyday. Seeing these beautiful children each morning is always guaranteed to put a smile on my face.

Outside of school I have many interests from water sports to hiking, cycling and camping. I enjoy a variety of arts and crafts; not that Iā€™m any good at any of them I just enjoy them. I love spending time with my family and I am grateful that my adult children also have the same interests and are happy do them with me.
